From the colored walls to the framed gardens and fountains, to the intentional effect of light on the attractively simple exteriors and interiors, a peculiar and intrinsic quality to the work becomes quietly revealed.
Liminalala™ is an examination of this quality. We define it as the intimate interaction of nature with the man-made — a shifting phase in between two extremes that does not belong to either, respectively.
When done in such a way, this creates a sense of mystery and disembodiment, of belonging and detachment.
Nature is the greatest artist. We know this. Art that is timeless is respectful of nature and creates a place for it to be. Barragán allowed light, water, earth, and foliage to become as much a part of his work as the work itself.
Liminalala™ is a curation of conversion, a collection of the undefined and improper, of the neither here nor there. My greatest intention is to draw attention to what Luis saw and understood as a pillar of humanity's most important artistic works.
